About Private IP Addresses

The 192.168.x.x range is reserved for private network use. You can't reach these addresses from the internet. They're used inside homes and offices to connect devices on the same local network.

Your router picks an address from this range as its default gateway. Most routers use 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1, but some manufacturers prefer different addresses. Huawei uses 192.168.8.1. Some ISP routers use 192.168.100.1 or 192.168.1.254.

If you don't know your router's IP address, check the sticker on the bottom of the router. You can also find it on Windows by running ipconfig in Command Prompt and looking for "Default Gateway".
