Chorus Router Login
Need to change your WiFi password or update your network settings? Log into your Chorus router's setup page to get it done.
The default gateway address for Chorus is 192.168.1.1. Type this into your browser's address bar (not the search bar) while connected to the router's network.
Étapes de connexion
Accessing your Chorus router admin through http://192.168.1.1 will allow you to change the settings and configurations that your router software provides.
-
Connect to your Chorus router. Make sure the router is on. Plug in an ethernet cable or connect to the router's WiFi. Ethernet works best for admin access.
-
Open any web browser. Type 192.168.1.1 into the address bar (not the search bar) and press Enter.
-
If the default IP doesn't work, find the real one. On Windows, open Command Prompt and type
ipconfig. Look for "Default Gateway". On Mac, open Terminal and typenetstat -nr. -
Use the default credentials listed above. The most common combo is admin / admin. Check the label on the bottom of your router if those don't work.
-
You're in. Change your WiFi name and password, set up port forwarding, update firmware, or adjust security settings.
Dépannage Chorus Router Login
If you have forgotten your username and password, you can follow the instructions to recover them. If you haven't changed the default username and password that came with the router, you can consult our default router usernames and passwords list.
-
Can't reach the login page
Make sure you're connected to the Chorus router via WiFi or ethernet, not mobile data. Type http://192.168.1.1 in the address bar. If it still won't load, unplug the router for 30 seconds and try again.
-
Default credentials not accepted
Check the sticker on the bottom of your Chorus router. The actual username and password are printed there. If those don't work either, someone changed them. You'll need to factory reset.
-
Router stops working after changes
Reset to factory defaults: hold the reset button on the back of your Chorus router for 10-30 seconds. Wait 2-3 minutes for it to reboot, then log in again.
-
Forgot the admin password
A factory reset is the only way back in. This wipes all settings, including your WiFi name and password. You'll need to set everything up again after the reset.
-
Settings won't save
Use an ethernet cable instead of WiFi when making changes. Some Chorus routers drop the connection during saves, which causes errors.
About Chorus Routers
Chorus started as New Zealand's largest telecommunications provider and expanded into router manufacturing to support their fiber network rollouts. The company developed their router line specifically for high-speed internet connections across New Zealand and Pacific regions. Chorus routers are designed to work seamlessly with their fiber infrastructure, making them a natural choice for their network customers.
Chorus has positioned itself as a reliable provider of networking equipment that prioritizes stability over flashy features. Their routers focus on consistent performance rather than gaming-specific functions or advanced customization options. You'll find Chorus equipment in thousands of homes across New Zealand, where the brand has built a reputation for dependable internet connectivity.
Home users choose Chorus routers because they come pre-configured for Chorus network services, which eliminates most setup headaches. If you're a Chorus internet customer, their routers are often provided as part of your service package, making them the path of least resistance for getting online.
Chorus routers are popular because they rarely need troubleshooting once installed. The company designs their firmware to be stable rather than feature-rich, which means fewer crashes and connection drops. You won't find advanced gaming features, but you'll get a router that works day after day without requiring constant attention.
Accessing the Chorus Admin Panel
You can access your Chorus router admin panel by opening any web browser and typing the router's IP address in the address bar. Chorus uses a straightforward web interface that doesn't require special software or mobile apps to configure your network settings.
Most Chorus routers use 192.168.1.1 as their default IP address. Type this address in your browser's address bar, just like you would type a website URL. Make sure you're connected to your Chorus router's WiFi network or plugged in with an ethernet cable before trying to access the admin page.
If 192.168.1.1 doesn't work, check the white sticker on the bottom or back of your Chorus router. The sticker shows the exact IP address and login credentials for your specific model. Some newer Chorus models might use different IP ranges depending on your network configuration.
Chorus routers sometimes block admin access if you're connected through certain WiFi bands. Try switching from the 5GHz network to the 2.4GHz network, or connect directly with an ethernet cable. Chorus firmware can be picky about which connection type allows admin access.
If your browser shows a security warning when accessing the Chorus admin page, click 'Advanced' and then 'Proceed anyway'. Chorus routers use self-signed certificates that modern browsers flag as potentially unsafe, but this is normal for router admin interfaces. The warning doesn't mean your router is actually compromised.
Some Chorus models will lock you out temporarily if you enter the wrong password multiple times. Wait 10-15 minutes before trying to log in again. Chorus implements this security feature to prevent brute force attacks, but it can be frustrating if you're genuinely trying to access your own router.
Popular Chorus Models
The Chorus HG659 is one of their most common fiber routers, using the standard admin/admin login credentials and 192.168.1.1 IP address. You'll recognize this model by its white rectangular design with external antennas. The HG659 admin interface has a blue and white color scheme with clearly labeled sections for WiFi, internet, and advanced settings.
Chorus also distributes the HG630 for basic internet connections, which uses the same admin/admin credentials but has a simpler interface with fewer configuration options. The newer Chorus Smart Modem series uses admin/admin by default but might require you to set a new password during initial setup. Check the device label if admin/admin doesn't work on Smart Modem models.
Some older Chorus models like the HG520 series use admin as the username but have a blank password field. Try leaving the password empty if admin/admin doesn't work on these older units.
Chorus fiber routers typically have more advanced settings available in their admin panels compared to their basic DSL models. Fiber models include VLAN configuration, advanced QoS settings, and multiple WiFi band controls. DSL models focus on basic internet and WiFi settings with fewer technical options.
Newer Chorus models require you to change the default password during first-time setup, while older models keep the admin/admin credentials permanently. If you're dealing with a recently purchased Chorus router, you might need to complete the initial setup wizard before accessing advanced admin features.
Troubleshooting Chorus Login Issues
If you can't reach the Chorus admin page at 192.168.1.1, your computer might not be getting an IP address from the router. Disconnect from WiFi and reconnect, or unplug your ethernet cable and plug it back in. Wait 30 seconds for your device to get a new IP address from the Chorus router.
Check that your device isn't connected to a guest network or extender instead of the main Chorus router. Guest networks often block admin access for security reasons. Connect to the primary WiFi network shown on the Chorus router's label, not any guest or secondary networks.
Most Chorus routers use admin/admin as the default username and password combination. Type 'admin' in both the username and password fields, making sure to use lowercase letters. Don't include quotes or extra spaces when entering these credentials.
If admin/admin doesn't work, try admin as the username with a blank password. Some Chorus models ship with no default password set. You can also try checking if the password is printed on the router's label alongside the WiFi password, as some newer Chorus units use unique default passwords.
After factory resetting your Chorus router, wait 2-3 minutes for it to fully restart before trying to access the admin panel. The default credentials will return to admin/admin, and the IP address will be 192.168.1.1. You'll need to reconfigure your WiFi network name, password, and any custom settings you had before the reset.
New Chorus routers might prompt you to run through a setup wizard after reset. Complete this wizard first, as it might require you to set a new admin password before you can access the full admin interface.
How to Factory Reset a Chorus Router
Reset your Chorus router if you can't remember the admin password you set, if the router stops responding to configuration changes, or if you're experiencing persistent connection problems that basic troubleshooting can't fix.
Find the small reset button on your Chorus router, usually located on the back panel near the power connector. The button is typically recessed and requires a paperclip or similar tool to press. Make sure your Chorus router is powered on and running normally before starting the reset process.
Press and hold the reset button for 10-15 seconds while the router is running. You'll see the LED lights on your Chorus router flash or change color during the reset. Keep holding the button until the lights stabilize, then release it. Don't unplug the power during this process, as it can damage the firmware.
Wait 2-3 minutes for your Chorus router to complete the reset and restart. All the LED indicators should return to their normal operating state. The router will return to factory defaults, including the admin/admin login credentials and 192.168.1.1 IP address.
Once your Chorus router finishes resetting, you'll need to reconnect your devices using the default WiFi name and password printed on the router's label. Access the admin panel at 192.168.1.1 with admin/admin to reconfigure your network settings, including setting a new WiFi name and password.
