Can't reach the login page
Make sure you're connected to the Corega router via WiFi or ethernet, not mobile data. Type http://192.168.1.1 in the address bar. If it still won't load, unplug the router for 30 seconds and try again.
-
Default credentials not accepted
Check the sticker on the bottom of your Corega router. The actual username and password are printed there. If those don't work either, someone changed them. You'll need to factory reset.
-
Router stops working after changes
Reset to factory defaults: hold the reset button on the back of your Corega router for 10-30 seconds. Wait 2-3 minutes for it to reboot, then log in again.
-
Forgot the admin password
A factory reset is the only way back in. This wipes all settings, including your WiFi name and password. You'll need to set everything up again after the reset.
-
Settings won't save
Use an ethernet cable instead of WiFi when making changes. Some Corega routers drop the connection during saves, which causes errors.
About Corega Routers
Corega started as a Japanese networking company in the 1990s and became well-known for making affordable routers and network adapters. The brand focused on home users who wanted reliable internet connectivity without paying premium prices. Corega routers were popular in Asian markets, especially Japan and Southeast Asia, where they built a reputation for simple setup and decent performance.
Corega eventually became part of the Allied Telesis group, which continued the brand's focus on budget-friendly networking equipment. While not as common today as brands like Linksys or Netgear, many Corega routers are still in use across homes in the Philippines, Indonesia, and other Asian countries where they were widely sold.
Home users choose Corega routers because they're straightforward to set up and don't require technical expertise. The brand's admin interface uses simple language and clear menus, making it easy for non-technical people to configure their network settings.
Corega routers also tend to work well in smaller homes and apartments, which makes them popular in densely populated areas. The price point attracts users who need basic internet sharing without advanced features they won't use.
Accessing the Corega Admin Panel
Getting into your Corega router's admin panel requires connecting to the web interface through your browser. Most Corega models use a standard login process, but you'll need to know the correct IP address and credentials to access the configuration page.
Open your web browser and type 192.168.1.1 into the address bar, then press Enter. Most Corega routers use this default IP address for their admin panel. If that doesn't work, try 192.168.0.1 instead, as some older Corega models use this address.
You can also find your Corega router's IP address by checking the label on the bottom of the device. Look for a sticker that shows the default gateway or management IP. If you can't find it there, open Command Prompt on Windows and type 'ipconfig' to see your default gateway address.
Corega routers sometimes don't respond when you first try to access 192.168.1.1, especially if you've changed network settings before. Make sure your computer is connected to the Corega router either by ethernet cable or WiFi before trying to log in.
Some Corega models have a quirk where the admin interface takes longer to load than other brands. Don't refresh the page immediately if it seems slow. Wait about 30 seconds for the login page to appear. If you see a security warning about the connection not being private, click 'Advanced' and then 'Proceed' to continue to the Corega login page.
If you're using an older Corega router, make sure your browser isn't blocking the connection. Try using Internet Explorer or an older version of Chrome if modern browsers won't connect to the admin panel.
Popular Corega Models
The Corega CG-WLR300N was one of their most popular wireless routers, using the standard 192.168.1.1 IP address with 'root' as both username and password. The CG-WLR54AG model also uses the same login credentials and IP address setup. Both models have a simple blue and white admin interface that's easy to navigate.
Corega's CG-WLBARGNH and CG-WLBARGNX series routers follow the same pattern with 'root'/'root' credentials and 192.168.1.1 as the default IP. The CG-WFR600 model, which was designed for faster speeds, keeps the same login system but has a slightly updated interface design.
Some older Corega models like the CG-WLAP54AG use 'admin' as the username instead of 'root', but still use 'root' as the password. Check the label on your specific router if the standard root/root combination doesn't work.
Most Corega routers use identical login procedures, but newer models from 2010 and later have updated admin interfaces with better organization. The login process stays the same, but you'll see different menu layouts once you're inside.
Older Corega routers from before 2008 sometimes require Internet Explorer to work properly with their admin panels. Modern browsers might not display the configuration pages correctly on these vintage models.
Troubleshooting Corega Login Issues
When you can't reach your Corega admin panel at 192.168.1.1, first check that your computer is getting an IP address from the router. Look at your network connection status and make sure you have an IP address that starts with 192.168.1. If you see 169.254, your computer isn't connecting to the Corega router properly.
Try unplugging your Corega router's power cable for 10 seconds, then plug it back in. Wait about 2 minutes for the router to fully boot up before trying to access 192.168.1.1 again. Make sure the power LED on your Corega router is solid green or blue, not blinking.
If 'root' and 'root' don't work as your Corega login credentials, someone might have changed the default password. Try 'admin' as the username with 'root' as the password, since some Corega models use this combination instead.
Some Corega routers come with a printed label that shows custom default credentials. Check the bottom of your router for a sticker that might show different login information. If you still can't get in and you've forgotten a custom password you set, you'll need to factory reset the router to get back to the default root/root credentials.
After factory resetting your Corega router, wait for it to fully restart before trying to log in. The power LED should be steady, not blinking. Connect your computer directly to the router with an ethernet cable if possible, then go to 192.168.1.1 in your browser.
Use 'root' for both username and password to log into your reset Corega router. You'll need to set up your internet connection and WiFi network again since the reset erases all your previous settings.
How to Factory Reset a Corega Router
Factory reset your Corega router when you can't remember the admin password, the router isn't working properly, or you're setting it up for someone else. Reset also fixes problems where the router won't connect to the internet or WiFi isn't working correctly.
Look for the small Reset button on the back of your Corega router. It's usually a recessed button that you need to press with a paperclip or pen tip. Make sure the router is powered on and all lights are stable before starting the reset process.
Press and hold the Reset button for 10-15 seconds while the router is running. You'll see the lights on the router blink or turn off during the reset. Keep holding the button until the lights start coming back on, then release it. Don't unplug the power during this process.
Wait about 2-3 minutes for your Corega router to complete the factory reset and restart. The power LED should return to solid green or blue when it's ready. All your previous settings are now erased, and the router is back to default configuration.
Once your Corega router finishes resetting, you can log in with the default 'root'/'root' credentials at 192.168.1.1. You'll need to configure your internet connection settings and set up your WiFi network name and password again.
