Xplornet Router Login

Need to change your WiFi password or update your network settings? Log into your Xplornet router's setup page to get it done.

The default gateway address for Xplornet is 192.168.1.1. Type this into your browser's address bar (not the search bar) while connected to the router's network.

Passos para login

Accessing your Xplornet router admin through http://192.168.1.1 will allow you to change the settings and configurations that your router software provides.

  1. Connect to your Xplornet router. Make sure the router is on. Plug in an ethernet cable or connect to the router's WiFi. Ethernet works best for admin access.

  2. Open any web browser. Type 192.168.1.1 into the address bar (not the search bar) and press Enter.

  3. If the default IP doesn't work, find the real one. On Windows, open Command Prompt and type ipconfig. Look for "Default Gateway". On Mac, open Terminal and type netstat -nr.

  4. Use the default credentials listed above. The most common combo is admin / admin. Check the label on the bottom of your router if those don't work.

  5. You're in. Change your WiFi name and password, set up port forwarding, update firmware, or adjust security settings.

Solução de problemas Xplornet Router Login

If you have forgotten your username and password, you can follow the instructions to recover them. If you haven't changed the default username and password that came with the router, you can consult our default router usernames and passwords list.

  • Can't reach the login page

Make sure you're connected to the Xplornet router via WiFi or ethernet, not mobile data. Type http://192.168.1.1 in the address bar. If it still won't load, unplug the router for 30 seconds and try again.

  • Default credentials not accepted

Check the sticker on the bottom of your Xplornet router. The actual username and password are printed there. If those don't work either, someone changed them. You'll need to factory reset.

  • Router stops working after changes

Reset to factory defaults: hold the reset button on the back of your Xplornet router for 10-30 seconds. Wait 2-3 minutes for it to reboot, then log in again.

  • Forgot the admin password

A factory reset is the only way back in. This wipes all settings, including your WiFi name and password. You'll need to set everything up again after the reset.

  • Settings won't save

Use an ethernet cable instead of WiFi when making changes. Some Xplornet routers drop the connection during saves, which causes errors.

About Xplornet Routers

Xplornet started as a Canadian satellite internet provider in 2005, focusing on rural and remote areas where traditional broadband wasn't available. The company expanded across Canada by acquiring smaller regional internet service providers and building wireless tower networks. Xplornet became one of Canada's largest rural internet providers, serving over 300,000 customers through satellite, fixed wireless, and fiber connections.

Xplornet provides their own branded routers and modems to customers as part of their internet service packages. You can't buy Xplornet routers in stores because they're specifically configured for Xplornet's network infrastructure. The company uses a mix of satellite dishes, wireless antennas, and traditional cable modems depending on your location and service type.

Home users choose Xplornet because it's often the only high-speed internet option in rural Canadian communities. Many customers live in areas where Bell, Rogers, or other major providers don't offer service. Xplornet's routers come pre-configured for their network, so you don't need to set up complex connection settings.

Xplornet customers appreciate that technical support can remotely access their routers to fix problems without a technician visit. The company's routers also include built-in parental controls and guest network features that work well for families in remote areas.

Accessing the Xplornet Admin Panel

You can access your Xplornet router admin panel through any web browser on a device connected to your network. Xplornet routers use a standard web interface that lets you change WiFi passwords, set up port forwarding, and view connected devices. The login page looks different from other router brands because Xplornet customizes the interface with their branding and specific menu options.

Most Xplornet routers use 192.168.1.1 as the default IP address for the admin panel. Type this address into your browser's address bar and press Enter to reach the login page. If 192.168.1.1 doesn't work, check the sticker on your Xplornet router for the correct IP address.

Some newer Xplornet wireless modems use 192.168.0.1 instead of 192.168.1.1. You can also find your router's IP address by looking at your computer's network settings. On Windows, open Command Prompt and type "ipconfig" to see the default gateway address, which is your router's IP.

Xplornet routers sometimes show a "connection timeout" error when you try to access the admin panel during peak internet usage hours. Wait a few minutes and try again, or disconnect other devices from your network temporarily. Satellite internet customers often experience this delay because of the longer signal travel time to satellites.

If you see an "untrusted certificate" warning in your browser, click "Advanced" and then "Proceed to 192.168.1.1" to continue. Xplornet routers use self-signed security certificates that trigger these warnings in modern browsers. The connection is still secure for local network access.

Xplornet's remote management system can sometimes interfere with local admin access. If you can't log in but your internet is working, call Xplornet support at 1-866-841-6904. They can disable remote management temporarily so you can access the admin panel from your local network.

Popular Xplornet Models

The Xplornet SmartHub router serves most wireless internet customers and uses admin/admin as the default login. You'll find this router in homes with Xplornet's LTE or 5G wireless service. The interface shows signal strength, data usage, and WiFi settings on the main dashboard. Xplornet satellite customers often get the HughesNet HT2000W modem, which also uses admin/admin but has a different interface focused on satellite connection status.

Xplornet fiber customers receive various router models depending on their service plan. The ZyXEL EMG3415-B10A is common for fiber installations and uses admin/admin for login credentials. Older Xplornet customers might have Motorola SBG6580 cable modems with admin/motorola as the default login. Check the model sticker on your device if admin/admin doesn't work.

Some Xplornet routers use the network name (SSID) as the default password instead of "admin". Look for a sticker on your router that shows the WiFi network name and try using that as your login password. Newer Xplornet equipment often has a QR code on the sticker that contains the login credentials.

Xplornet satellite routers have additional status pages that show satellite signal quality, weather fade conditions, and data usage against your monthly allowance. You won't find these options on wireless or fiber Xplornet routers. Satellite routers also have built-in traffic shaping that prioritizes web browsing over video streaming during peak hours.

Wireless Xplornet routers include cellular signal strength indicators and the ability to select different tower connections. Fiber Xplornet routers have the most advanced features, including guest networks, port forwarding, and detailed device management tools that aren't available on satellite models.

Troubleshooting Xplornet Login Issues

Make sure you're connected to your Xplornet router's WiFi network or plugged in with an ethernet cable before trying to access the admin panel. You can't reach the router login page from a mobile data connection or different WiFi network. Turn off mobile data on your phone and connect to your Xplornet WiFi first.

If 192.168.1.1 doesn't load, try 192.168.0.1 or check the sticker on your Xplornet router for the correct IP address. Clear your browser cache and cookies, then try accessing the admin panel in a private browsing window. Some browser extensions can block access to local router interfaces.

Try admin/admin first, as most Xplornet routers use these default credentials. If that doesn't work, check the sticker on your router for the default password, which might be the WiFi network name or a random string of characters. Xplornet technicians sometimes change the default password during installation.

If you changed the admin password and forgot it, you'll need to factory reset your Xplornet router to restore the default login credentials. Contact Xplornet support at 1-866-841-6904 before resetting, as they might be able to remotely reset your password without losing your configuration settings.

After factory resetting your Xplornet router, wait 2-3 minutes for it to fully restart before trying to log in. Use the default credentials from the router sticker, which are usually admin/admin. Your WiFi network name and password will return to the defaults printed on the router label.

You'll need to reconfigure your WiFi settings, port forwarding rules, and any custom DNS settings after a factory reset. Xplornet's remote management system will automatically restore some network settings, but personal customizations like WiFi passwords need manual setup.

How to Factory Reset a Xplornet Router

Factory reset your Xplornet router if you've forgotten the admin password, can't access the internet after changing settings, or if Xplornet support recommends it during troubleshooting. Don't reset your router unless you've tried other solutions first, as you'll lose all custom configurations.

Locate the small Reset button on your Xplornet router, usually on the back or bottom of the device near the power port. Keep your router plugged in and powered on during the reset process. Press and hold the Reset button with a paperclip or pen tip for 10-15 seconds while watching the status lights.

Release the Reset button when the status lights start flashing or change color. Your Xplornet router will restart automatically and return to factory default settings after 2-3 minutes. The power light should be solid green or blue when the reset is complete. Some Xplornet satellite modems take up to 5 minutes to fully reset and reconnect to the satellite.

If the lights don't change after holding Reset for 15 seconds, unplug your Xplornet router for 30 seconds, then plug it back in and try the reset procedure again. Very old Xplornet routers might require holding the Reset button for up to 30 seconds.

Connect to your Xplornet router using the default WiFi network name and password printed on the router sticker. Log into the admin panel with the default credentials and change your WiFi password to something secure. Xplornet's system will automatically restore your internet connection settings, but you'll need to reconfigure any custom options manually.
