NetComm Wireless (now part of Casa Systems) is an Australian OEM manufacturer of DSL modems, routers, and IoT devices widely used by Australian ISPs including iiNet and TPG.
Login Details
NetComm routers use 192.168.20.1 or 192.168.1.1. Default username is admin and password is admin.
About NetComm Routers
NetComm started in Australia in 1982 and became a leading network equipment manufacturer across the Asia-Pacific region. The company built its reputation making reliable ADSL modems and routers for Australian internet service providers. NetComm expanded throughout Southeast Asia and Latin America, partnering with local ISPs to provide affordable networking solutions for homes and small businesses.
Today NetComm focuses on wireless routers, fiber modems, and 4G LTE devices for residential users. The brand is particularly strong in Australia, New Zealand, and parts of Asia where ISPs bundle NetComm equipment with internet plans.
Home users choose NetComm routers because they're often provided free by internet service providers as part of connection packages. NetComm devices are known for their simple setup process and reliable performance with ADSL, fiber, and mobile broadband connections. The routers work well in smaller homes and apartments where you need basic Wi-Fi coverage without complex configuration.
NetComm routers are also popular because they use straightforward web interfaces that don't overwhelm non-technical users. You won't find dozens of advanced features that confuse beginners. Instead, NetComm focuses on making internet connection setup as simple as possible.
Accessing the NetComm Admin Panel
You access your NetComm router admin panel through a web browser using your device's default IP address. NetComm uses two main IP addresses depending on your model: 192.168.20.1 for newer models and 192.168.1.1 for older ones. Type the IP address in your browser's address bar and press Enter to reach the login page.
Most NetComm routers use 192.168.20.1 as the default gateway address. You'll find this printed on a sticker attached to the bottom or back of your router along with the default username and password. If 192.168.20.1 doesn't work, try 192.168.1.1 which NetComm used on earlier models.
You can also find your NetComm router's IP address by checking your computer's network settings. On Windows, open Command Prompt and type "ipconfig" to see your default gateway. On phones, go to Wi-Fi settings and tap the information icon next to your connected network name.
NetComm routers sometimes show a "connection timeout" error when you try to access 192.168.20.1. This happens when your computer isn't properly connected to the NetComm network. Make sure you're connected to your NetComm Wi-Fi network or plugged into an ethernet port before trying to access the admin panel.
Another common NetComm issue is the browser redirecting to your ISP's setup page instead of the router login. Some Australian and New Zealand ISPs configure NetComm routers to redirect users to their own setup portals. Try typing "192.168.20.1/advanced" or "192.168.20.1/admin" to bypass the ISP redirect and reach the actual NetComm interface.
If you see certificate warnings when accessing your NetComm admin panel, click "Advanced" and "Proceed anyway". NetComm routers use self-signed certificates that browsers flag as unsafe, but it's normal for local network access.
Popular NetComm Models
The NetComm NF18ACV is one of the most common models in Australian homes, usually provided by Telstra and other ISPs. This VDSL/ADSL router uses 192.168.20.1 and the default login is admin/admin. The NF18ACV has a blue and white interface with basic wireless settings and port forwarding options.
NetComm's NL1901ACV is another popular fiber router model that uses the same 192.168.20.1 IP address and admin/admin credentials. You'll recognize this model by its compact white design and single ethernet port for fiber connections. The NL1901ACV interface looks similar to the NF18ACV but includes fiber-specific connection settings.
Older NetComm models like the NB604N and NB6Plus4W use 192.168.1.1 instead of 192.168.20.1. These ADSL routers still use admin/admin for login credentials. The interface on these older models has a more basic gray design compared to the newer blue NetComm interface.
Newer NetComm models from 2018 onwards use 192.168.20.1 and feature the updated blue web interface with simplified menus. Older NetComm models use 192.168.1.1 and have a more basic gray interface design. The login process is the same for both, but you need to use the correct IP address for your model.
NetComm's 4G LTE routers like the NTC-140W series may use different default passwords printed on the device label instead of the standard admin/admin. Always check the sticker on your specific NetComm model before assuming the default credentials.
Troubleshooting NetComm Login Issues
When you can't reach your NetComm admin page, first check that you're using the correct IP address for your model. Try both 192.168.20.1 and 192.168.1.1 in your browser. Make sure you're typing the IP in the address bar, not the search box. Some browsers redirect IP addresses to search engines if you type them in the wrong place.
If the IP addresses don't work, your NetComm router might be in bridge mode or have DHCP disabled. Unplug the NetComm router for 30 seconds, then plug it back in. Wait 2-3 minutes for the router to fully boot up before trying to access the admin panel again.
NetComm routers use admin/admin as the default username and password combination on most models. Type "admin" in both the username and password fields, making sure you use lowercase letters. If admin/admin doesn't work, check the white sticker on your NetComm router for the actual default credentials printed by the manufacturer.
Some NetComm models provided by ISPs have custom default passwords set by the internet service provider. Look for a sticker that says "Admin Password" or "Router Password" instead of using the generic admin/admin combination. If you've changed the password and forgotten it, you'll need to factory reset your NetComm router.
After factory resetting your NetComm router, wait for all the lights to stop flashing before trying to log in. The default IP address returns to either 192.168.20.1 or 192.168.1.1 depending on your model. Use admin/admin for the login credentials unless your router has different defaults printed on the device label.
You'll need to reconfigure your internet connection settings after a factory reset. NetComm routers usually have an auto-setup wizard that appears after the first login to help configure your ISP settings.
How to Factory Reset a NetComm Router
Factory reset your NetComm router when you can't remember the admin password or when the device isn't working properly after configuration changes. You should also reset if you're giving the router to someone else or if your ISP tells you to reset during troubleshooting.
Find the small reset button on the back of your NetComm router, usually located near the power port. The reset button is recessed and requires a paperclip or pen tip to press. Make sure your NetComm router is powered on and all lights are stable before starting the reset process.
Press and hold the reset button for 10-15 seconds while the router is powered on. You'll see the lights on your NetComm router start flashing during the reset process. Keep holding the button until all lights turn off, then release it. The router will reboot automatically and restore factory default settings.
Wait 2-3 minutes for your NetComm router to complete the reboot process. The power light should be solid and the Wi-Fi light should be on when the reset is complete. You can now access the admin panel using the default IP address and admin/admin credentials.
After resetting your NetComm router, you'll need to set up your internet connection again using your ISP's settings. Connect to the default Wi-Fi network printed on the router label and access the admin panel to run the setup wizard. NetComm routers usually detect your connection type automatically and guide you through the configuration process.
