If you have forgotten your username and password, you can follow the instructions to recover them. If you haven't changed the default username and password that came with the router, you can consult our default router usernames and passwords list.
-
Can't reach the login page
Make sure you're connected to the Telus router via WiFi or ethernet, not mobile data. Type http://192.168.0.1 in the address bar. If it still won't load, unplug the router for 30 seconds and try again.
-
Default credentials not accepted
Check the sticker on the bottom of your Telus router. The actual username and password are printed there. If those don't work either, someone changed them. You'll need to factory reset.
-
Router stops working after changes
Reset to factory defaults: hold the reset button on the back of your Telus router for 10-30 seconds. Wait 2-3 minutes for it to reboot, then log in again.
-
Forgot the admin password
A factory reset is the only way back in. This wipes all settings, including your WiFi name and password. You'll need to set everything up again after the reset.
-
Settings won't save
Use an ethernet cable instead of WiFi when making changes. Some Telus routers drop the connection during saves, which causes errors.
About Telus Routers
Telus started as a Canadian telecommunications company in 1990 and has grown into one of Canada's largest internet service providers. The company provides fiber optic and DSL internet services across Western and Central Canada. Telus partners with major router manufacturers like ActionTec, Sagemcom, and Nokia to create custom firmware routers for their subscribers.
Telus routers come pre-configured with the company's network settings and branding. The company distributes different router models depending on your internet plan and location. Most Telus customers receive their router directly from the company when they sign up for internet service.
Home users choose Telus routers because they come included with their internet service plan. These routers arrive pre-configured and ready to use right out of the box. You don't need to set up complex network settings or purchase separate equipment.
Telus routers also receive automatic firmware updates and technical support directly from the company. If your router breaks or needs replacement, Telus will send you a new one under most service plans.
Accessing the Telus Admin Panel
You can access your Telus router admin panel through any web browser on your computer or phone. Make sure you're connected to your Telus WiFi network first. Then open your browser and type the router's IP address to reach the login page.
Most Telus routers use 192.168.0.1 as their default IP address. Type this number into your browser's address bar where you normally enter website names. Some older Telus models might use 192.168.1.1 instead.
You can find your router's exact IP address printed on a sticker on the back or bottom of the device. Look for "Gateway" or "Router IP" on the label. The sticker also shows your default username and password.
Telus routers sometimes show a "Telus SmartHome" page instead of the regular admin interface. If you see this simplified dashboard, look for an "Advanced" or "Expert Mode" link at the bottom of the page. Click it to access the full router settings.
Some Telus customers can't reach 192.168.0.1 because their router uses bridge mode. Bridge mode disables the router's admin panel and lets another device handle your network. Contact Telus support if you need bridge mode turned off.
Older Telus ActionTec routers might require Internet Explorer or an older browser version. If you can't log in with Chrome or Firefox, try using Edge or Safari instead.
Popular Telus Models
The Telus WiFi Hub (white cylindrical router) uses admin/admin as the default login. You'll find these credentials on a sticker inside the battery compartment. The Telus ActionTec T3200M uses admin/admin as well, with the password printed on the router's back panel.
Telus Sagemcom routers often use admin/admin or admin/password as default credentials. The exact password appears on your router's information sticker. Some Telus Nokia routers use admin with a blank password field. Just leave the password box empty when logging in.
Newer Telus routers might have unique default passwords generated for each device. Check the sticker on your router for the exact credentials. Don't use generic passwords if your router has a custom one printed on it.
Telus ActionTec routers show a blue and white interface with the Telus logo. You'll see tabs for "Wireless", "Firewall", and "Advanced" settings. Telus Sagemcom routers use a different layout with sidebar navigation instead of top tabs.
Some Telus router models redirect you to the Telus SmartHome portal instead of the local admin interface. You can usually access advanced settings by clicking "Expert Mode" or contacting Telus to enable local admin access.
Troubleshooting Telus Login Issues
If you can't reach 192.168.0.1, check that you're connected to your Telus WiFi network first. Disconnect from mobile data and other WiFi networks. Your device needs to be on the same network as your Telus router.
Try clearing your browser cache or using incognito mode. Some browsers save old router settings that can interfere with the login page. You can also try a different browser or device to see if the problem continues.
Telus routers come with default credentials printed on a sticker on the device. Look for "Username" and "Password" or "Admin Password" on this label. The most common Telus defaults are admin/admin, but your specific router might use a different password.
If someone changed the default password and you don't know it, you'll need to reset your Telus router to factory settings. Contact Telus first because they might be able to help you recover access without resetting your entire configuration.
After factory resetting your Telus router, wait 2-3 minutes for it to fully restart. Connect to the default WiFi network name printed on your router's sticker. The network might be called "TELUS####" where #### are numbers.
Open your browser and go to 192.168.0.1 to access the setup wizard. Use the default credentials from your router's sticker to log in. You'll need to reconfigure your WiFi name, password, and any custom settings you had before the reset.
How to Factory Reset a Telus Router
Reset your Telus router when you can't log in with any password, when it won't connect to the internet, or when Telus technical support asks you to reset it. Don't reset unless other troubleshooting steps haven't worked because you'll lose all your custom settings.
Locate the reset button on your Telus router. It's usually a small recessed button on the back or bottom of the device. Keep your router plugged in and powered on during the reset process.
Press and hold the reset button for 10-15 seconds using a paperclip or pen tip. Keep holding even after the lights start flashing. Release the button and wait for your Telus router to restart completely. The power light should turn solid green or blue when ready.
Some Telus WiFi Hub models have the reset button inside the battery compartment. Remove the battery cover first, then press and hold the reset button for 15 seconds. Replace the battery cover after the router restarts.
Connect to your router using the default WiFi name and password from the sticker. Open a browser and go to 192.168.0.1 to run the initial setup. You'll need to create new WiFi network names and passwords since the reset erased your previous settings.
