Accessing your router admin through 192.168.8.1 address will allow you to change the settings and configurations that your router software provides. Check the address you input not to confuse it with 192.168.8.l.

1. Connectez votre appareil au routeur

• Connexion

Configure Your Router at 192.168.8.1

Once you're logged into your router at 192.168.8.1, you can change settings to improve your internet connection. Most Huawei routers use this address, along with GL.iNet and Honor devices. The settings page lets you control everything from WiFi passwords to security features.

Change Your Router Password

Look for "Administration" or "System" in your 192.168.8.1 interface. You'll see "Change Password" or "Admin Password" somewhere in the menu. Type your current password first, then enter your new one twice. Pick something you'll remember but others can't guess easily.

Save the changes and write down your new password. You'll need it every time you visit 192.168.8.1 to change settings. Don't use the same password for your router login and your WiFi network.

Change Your WiFi Name and Password

Find "Wireless" or "WiFi Settings" in your 192.168.8.1 control panel. You'll see your current network name (SSID) and password. Click "Edit" next to the network name to change it to something you recognize, like "Smith_Family_WiFi".

Scroll down to find "WiFi Password" or "Wireless Key". Change this to a strong password with at least 12 characters. Use a mix of letters, numbers, and symbols. Save your changes and wait for the router to restart.

Your devices will disconnect when you save the new WiFi password. Connect them again using the new password you just set through 192.168.8.1.

Port Forwarding

Port forwarding lets specific internet traffic reach devices on your home network. In your 192.168.8.1 interface, look for "Advanced" or "NAT/Gaming" settings. You'll find "Port Forwarding" or "Virtual Server" in this section.

Click "Add" to create a new rule. Enter the local IP address of your device (like your gaming console), then specify which ports to forward. Common examples are port 80 for web servers or port 25565 for Minecraft servers. Save the rule and restart your router to activate it.
