Can't reach the login page
Make sure you're connected to the Humax router via WiFi or ethernet, not mobile data. Type http://192.168.0.1 in the address bar. If it still won't load, unplug the router for 30 seconds and try again.
-
Default credentials not accepted
Check the sticker on the bottom of your Humax router. The actual username and password are printed there. If those don't work either, someone changed them. You'll need to factory reset.
-
Router stops working after changes
Reset to factory defaults: hold the reset button on the back of your Humax router for 10-30 seconds. Wait 2-3 minutes for it to reboot, then log in again.
-
Forgot the admin password
A factory reset is the only way back in. This wipes all settings, including your WiFi name and password. You'll need to set everything up again after the reset.
-
Settings won't save
Use an ethernet cable instead of WiFi when making changes. Some Humax routers drop the connection during saves, which causes errors.
About Humax Routers
Humax started as a South Korean company in 1989, building digital TV receivers and set-top boxes. The company expanded into home networking when cable and satellite providers needed devices that could handle both TV and internet services. Today, Humax makes routers and gateways for internet service providers worldwide, including major telecom companies in Europe, Asia, and Latin America.
Many users get Humax routers directly from their internet provider rather than buying them in stores. Cable companies like Virgin Media in the UK and various fiber providers distribute Humax equipment as part of their service packages. The brand focuses on creating devices that work well with specific ISP networks rather than competing in the general consumer router market.
Home users often choose Humax routers because their internet provider supplies them as part of the service plan. These routers come pre-configured for the specific network, which means less setup work for customers. Humax devices typically offer good Wi-Fi coverage for medium-sized homes and apartments.
The main appeal is reliability and ISP support. When you call your internet provider with connection problems, their tech support team knows exactly how Humax routers work. You don't need to figure out complex settings because most configurations come ready to use out of the box.
Accessing the Humax Admin Panel
Getting into your Humax router's admin panel lets you change Wi-Fi passwords, check connected devices, and adjust network settings. You'll access the control panel through your web browser using Humax's standard login system. Most Humax routers use the same basic login process, though some ISP-customized models might look slightly different.
Nearly all Humax routers use 192.168.0.1 as their default IP address. Type this number into your browser's address bar while connected to the Humax network. Some newer Humax models also respond to http://humax.home as an alternative address.
If 192.168.0.1 doesn't work, check the label on your Humax router. Look for text that says "Gateway" or "Router IP" followed by numbers. Some ISP-customized Humax units might use 192.168.1.1 instead, but this is uncommon.
Humax routers sometimes take longer than other brands to load the login page. Wait at least 30 seconds before assuming the page won't appear. The Humax interface can be slow to respond, especially on older models or when multiple devices are connected.
Some Humax routers provided by internet companies have modified interfaces that look different from standard Humax pages. You might see your ISP's branding instead of Humax logos. Don't worry if the colors and layout seem unfamiliar. The login process still works the same way.
Certain Humax models automatically redirect you to a setup wizard on first login. You can usually skip or close this wizard to reach the main admin panel. Look for "Advanced Settings" or "Expert Mode" links if you only see basic options.
Popular Humax Models
The Humax HG100R is a common ADSL/fiber router that uses "admin" as both username and password. This model appears in many ISP packages and has a distinctive blue LED status light. The HG100R interface shows a simple dashboard with basic Wi-Fi and network controls.
Humax HGW models (like HGW-2510-5) are gateway devices that combine router and modem functions. These units typically use "admin" for the username and either "password" or "admin" for the password. Some versions have the password printed on a sticker under the device.
The newer Humax WiFi Hub series often comes with ISP-specific firmware. Default credentials vary by provider, but most still use "admin" / "password". These models have more advanced interfaces with separate sections for basic and expert settings.
Older Humax routers like the HG100 series have simpler interfaces with fewer menu options. You'll find basic Wi-Fi settings, port forwarding, and device management in clearly labeled sections. The pages load slowly but are straightforward to navigate.
Newer Humax models with ISP customization may hide advanced features behind additional login screens or expert modes. Your internet provider might have disabled certain settings to prevent configuration conflicts with their network.
Troubleshooting Humax Login Issues
When you can't reach your Humax admin page, first check that you're connected to the Humax Wi-Fi network or plugged into an Ethernet port. The router can't respond if you're on a different network or using mobile data. Look for the Humax status lights. A solid green or blue power light means the router is running normally.
Try clearing your browser cache and cookies, then attempt the login again. Humax routers sometimes conflict with stored browser data. You can also try a different browser or use your phone's browser instead of your computer. Some users find that Internet Explorer or Edge works better with older Humax interfaces than Chrome or Firefox.
Most Humax routers ship with "admin" as the default password. If your ISP provided the router, they might have changed this password during setup. Check any documentation that came with your service installation, or look for a sticker on the router itself with login credentials.
Some Humax models use the last 8 characters of the MAC address as the default password. You'll find the MAC address on the router label, usually starting with letters like "00:" or "A4:". Try typing just the last 8 characters (letters and numbers) as your password.
After factory resetting your Humax router, wait 3-5 minutes for the device to fully restart before attempting to log in. The power light should be solid, not blinking. Use the original default credentials: username "admin" and password "password".
If your ISP provided the router, you'll need to reconfigure it for their network after the reset. Contact your internet provider for the specific settings required. Some Humax routers won't connect to the internet until the ISP activates them again on their system.
How to Factory Reset a Humax Router
Reset your Humax router when you can't log in with any password combination, when the device won't connect to the internet despite working cables, or when Wi-Fi performance has severely degraded. Factory reset also helps when you've made configuration changes that caused connection problems.
Find the small reset button on your Humax router, usually located on the back or bottom panel. The button is typically recessed and requires a paperclip or pin to press. Make sure your router is powered on before starting.
Press and hold the reset button for 10-15 seconds while the router is running. You'll see the status lights flash or change color during the reset process. Keep holding the button even when lights start blinking. Release the button and wait for the router to restart completely.
Some Humax models require you to hold the reset button while powering on the device. If the standard method doesn't work, try unplugging the power cord, holding the reset button, then plugging the power back in while continuing to hold the button for 30 seconds.
Your Humax router will return to factory settings after the reset completes. Connect to the default Wi-Fi network name (usually printed on the router label) using the default password. Then log into 192.168.0.1 with username "admin" and password "password" to reconfigure your settings.
