-
Connect to your Aerohive router. Make sure the router is on. Plug in an ethernet cable or connect to the router's WiFi. Ethernet works best for admin access.

Open any web browser. Type 192.168.1.1 into the address bar (not the search bar) and press Enter.
-

If you have forgotten your username and password, you can follow the instructions to recover them. If you haven't changed the default username and password that came with the router, you can consult our default router usernames and passwords list.
-
Can't reach the login page
Make sure you're connected to the Aerohive router via WiFi or ethernet, not mobile data. Type http://192.168.1.1 in the address bar. If it still won't load, unplug the router for 30 seconds and try again.
-
Default credentials not accepted
Check the sticker on the bottom of your Aerohive router. The actual username and password are printed there. If those don't work either, someone changed them. You'll need to factory reset.
-
Router stops working after changes
Reset to factory defaults: hold the reset button on the back of your Aerohive router for 10-30 seconds. Wait 2-3 minutes for it to reboot, then log in again.
-
Forgot the admin password
A factory reset is the only way back in. This wipes all settings, including your WiFi name and password. You'll need to set everything up again after the reset.
-
Settings won't save
Use an ethernet cable instead of WiFi when making changes. Some Aerohive routers drop the connection during saves, which causes errors.
About Aerohive Routers
Aerohive Networks started in 2006 and built cloud-managed wireless networking solutions for businesses and schools. The company focused on access points and switches that didn't need separate controllers. In 2019, Extreme Networks acquired Aerohive and continued developing their wireless products under the ExtremeCloud brand.
Aerohive routers and access points became popular in small offices and homes because they offered enterprise-grade features at lower costs. Many Aerohive devices can work independently or connect to cloud management systems. You'll find Aerohive equipment in schools, small businesses, and tech-savvy homes across Asia and Latin America.
Home users choose Aerohive because these devices offer professional wireless features without complex setup. Aerohive routers provide strong Wi-Fi coverage and can handle many connected devices at once. The web interface is cleaner than many consumer routers, and you don't need special software to configure basic settings.
Aerehive devices also last longer than typical home routers. Many users appreciate that older Aerohive models still receive firmware updates and security patches years after purchase.
Accessing the Aerohive Admin Panel
You can access your Aerohive router admin panel through any web browser on your computer or phone. Aerohive uses a clean web interface that loads quickly and works well on mobile devices. The login page appears immediately when you enter the correct IP address.
Most Aerohive routers use 192.168.1.1 as the default IP address. Open your web browser and type http://192.168.1.1 in the address bar. If that doesn't work, check the sticker on your Aerohive device for the management IP address.
You can also find your Aerohive IP through your computer's network settings. On Windows, open Command Prompt and type "ipconfig". Look for the Default Gateway address under your wireless connection. That's usually your Aerohive router's IP address.
Aerohive routers sometimes change their default IP when connected behind another router. If 192.168.1.1 doesn't work, try 192.168.0.1 or 10.0.0.1. Some Aerohive models automatically switch to avoid IP conflicts with your main router.
The Aerohive login page loads slowly on older browsers. Update your browser or try a different one if the page won't appear. Chrome and Firefox work best with Aerohive's web interface. Clear your browser cache if you see old login pages or error messages.
Some Aerohive devices disable web access after connecting to cloud management. Check if your device shows cloud connectivity lights. You might need to disconnect from the cloud service to access the local web interface again.
Popular Aerohive Models
The Aerohive AP130 access point uses admin/admin as default credentials and connects at 192.168.1.1. You'll see a simple login screen with the Aerohive logo and two text boxes. The AP230 and AP330 models use the same default settings but offer faster wireless speeds.
Aerohive SR2024P switches also use admin/admin but might appear at 192.168.0.1 depending on your network setup. The login page looks different from access points and shows more network port information. Older Aerohive models like the AP121 and AP141 sometimes use "aerohive" as both username and password.
Newer ExtremeCloud-branded devices still run Aerohive firmware but might have "admin" username with no password by default. Always check the device label for model-specific credentials before trying the standard admin/admin combination.
Aerohive access points show a wireless-focused interface with signal strength and client connection data. Aerohive switches display port status and VLAN configuration options on the main page. Both device types use similar login procedures but the dashboard layout changes based on the device function.
Cloud-managed Aerohive devices might redirect you to the ExtremeCloud portal instead of showing the local interface. Standalone Aerohive models always show the local web interface first and let you configure cloud features later.
Troubleshooting Aerohive Login Issues
Check that your computer connects to the Aerohive device's wireless network first. You can't access the admin panel from a different network or through the internet. Connect to the Aerohive Wi-Fi network, then try the IP address again.
Aerohive devices sometimes disable web access when they can't contact their cloud service. Unplug the internet cable from your Aerohive router for 30 seconds, then plug it back in. Wait for the device to fully boot before trying to access the web interface.
Aerohive routers lock out users after five failed login attempts. Wait 10 minutes before trying again, or restart the device to clear the lockout faster. Always try admin/admin first, then check your device label for printed credentials.
Some Aerohive models ship with random default passwords printed on the device sticker. Look for a white label with "Default Password" or "Web Access" information. The username is usually "admin" even when the password is different.
After factory reset, your Aerohive device returns to 192.168.1.1 with admin/admin credentials. The device broadcasts a default Wi-Fi network called "AH-xxxxxx" where the x's are part of the device serial number. Connect to this network first, then access the web interface.
Aerohive devices take 2-3 minutes to fully boot after factory reset. Don't try to access the web interface until all status lights stop blinking and show solid colors.
How to Factory Reset a Aerohive Router
Reset your Aerohive device when you can't remember the admin password or when the device won't respond to network commands. Factory reset also helps when switching from cloud management back to local configuration.
Find the small reset button on your Aerohive device. It's usually a recessed button near the power port or on the back panel. With the device powered on, press and hold the reset button using a paperclip or similar tool.
Hold the reset button for 15 seconds while watching the device lights. The status LED will change from solid to blinking, then turn off briefly. Release the button when the LED starts blinking rapidly. The device will restart automatically and take 2-3 minutes to complete the reset process.
Some Aerohive models require a 30-second reset hold time. If 15 seconds doesn't work, try holding the button for 30 seconds. The device will make clicking sounds during reset on some models.
Connect to the default Aerohive wireless network and access 192.168.1.1 with admin/admin credentials. Set a new admin password and configure your wireless network name and password. The device won't have internet access until you complete the basic network setup.
