ActionTec Router Login
ActionTec Electronics produces broadband equipment primarily for US ISPs. Their routers are commonly used on Verizon DSL and Qwest/CenturyLink networks.
How to Access ActionTec Settings
ActionTec routers typically use 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.62.1 as the default IP address. Verizon-supplied models often use 192.168.1.1.
Default Credentials
Common defaults are username admin and password admin or password. Verizon-supplied models may use a unique password on the device label.
About ActionTec Routers
ActionTec started in 1993 as a networking equipment manufacturer focused on DSL and broadband technology. The company became popular with internet service providers who bundled ActionTec routers with their service packages. Many Verizon FiOS customers received ActionTec routers as their primary gateway device for years.
ActionTec built a reputation for reliable DSL modems and combination modem-router units. The company specialized in devices that could handle both internet connectivity and home networking in one box. While ActionTec isn't as common in retail stores as Netgear or Linksys, millions of homes still use ActionTec devices provided by their ISP.
Home users often get ActionTec routers through their internet service provider rather than buying them directly. Verizon customers particularly know ActionTec as their go-to brand for FiOS connections. The routers work well out of the box with minimal setup required.
ActionTec devices typically offer stable performance for basic home networking needs. They don't have fancy gaming features, but they handle streaming, web browsing, and Wi-Fi connectivity reliably. Many users appreciate that ActionTec routers rarely need frequent reboots or troubleshooting.
Accessing the ActionTec Admin Panel
ActionTec routers use a web-based admin panel that you access through your browser. You'll need to connect your computer or phone to the ActionTec router's network first, then navigate to the correct IP address. ActionTec uses different default IP addresses depending on your model and ISP configuration.
Most ActionTec routers use 192.168.0.1 as their default gateway address. However, some models use 192.168.62.1 or 192.168.1.1 instead. You can find your ActionTec router's IP address by checking the label on the bottom or back of the device.
If you can't find the label, open Command Prompt on Windows and type 'ipconfig'. Look for the 'Default Gateway' address under your network connection. On Mac, go to System Preferences, then Network, and check your connection details. The gateway IP shown there is your ActionTec router's address.
ActionTec routers sometimes take longer than other brands to respond when you first access the login page. Don't refresh the page immediately if it seems slow to load. Wait at least 30 seconds for the ActionTec interface to appear.
Some ActionTec models have a quirk where they won't accept login attempts if you're using certain browsers. If Chrome doesn't work, try Firefox or Edge instead. Clear your browser cache if you see old ActionTec login screens that don't accept your credentials.
Verizon-branded ActionTec routers may redirect you to a Verizon-specific login page instead of the standard ActionTec interface. This is normal behavior, and you should use the same default credentials listed on your router's label.
Popular ActionTec Models
The ActionTec GT784WN is a common DSL modem-router combo that uses 192.168.1.1 as its default address. Login credentials are typically 'admin' for both username and password. The ActionTec MI424WR was popular with Verizon FiOS customers and uses 192.168.1.1 with 'admin' and 'password1' as defaults.
ActionTec C1000A routers, often provided by CenturyLink, use 192.168.0.1 for access. The default login is usually 'admin' for username and 'password' for password. Some C1000A units may have custom credentials printed on the router label.
Newer ActionTec ECB6000 and WCB6000 series routers typically use 192.168.0.1. These models often have 'admin' as the username and a unique password printed on the device label rather than a generic default password.
Older ActionTec routers from before 2015 generally use simple passwords like 'password' or 'admin'. Newer ActionTec models have random generated passwords for better security. Always check the label on your specific ActionTec router for the exact credentials.
ISP-provided ActionTec routers may have custom firmware that changes the default IP address or login page appearance. Verizon ActionTec routers often use different interfaces than retail ActionTec models, but the core functionality remains the same.
Troubleshooting ActionTec Login Issues
If you can't reach your ActionTec router's admin page, first check that you're connected to the correct network. Make sure your computer or phone shows a connection to your ActionTec router's Wi-Fi network or is plugged into an ethernet port on the ActionTec device.
Try all three common ActionTec IP addresses: 192.168.0.1, 192.168.62.1, and 192.168.1.1. Type each one in your browser's address bar with 'http://' in front, like 'http://192.168.0.1'. Some ActionTec routers won't respond to HTTPS connections, so don't use 'https://' in the address.
ActionTec routers often have their default credentials printed on a white or silver label on the bottom or back of the device. Look for 'Username' and 'Password' or 'Admin Password' on this label. Don't confuse the admin password with the Wi-Fi password, which is usually listed separately.
If someone changed your ActionTec router's admin password and you don't know it, you'll need to reset the router to factory defaults. There's no way to recover a changed password on ActionTec routers without resetting the entire device.
After factory resetting your ActionTec router, wait about 2 minutes for the device to fully restart. The power LED should be solid green or blue when ready. Use the default credentials from your router's label to log in, not any previously changed passwords.
How to Factory Reset a ActionTec Router
Reset your ActionTec router when you can't log in with any password, when the router isn't responding to network traffic, or when you want to start fresh with default settings. Factory reset erases all custom configurations including Wi-Fi passwords and port forwarding rules.
Locate the small recessed reset button on your ActionTec router, usually on the back panel near the power jack. With the router powered on, use a paperclip or similar thin object to press and hold the reset button. Hold the button down for 10-15 seconds while watching the LED lights on the front of the ActionTec router.
The lights will typically flash or change color during the reset process. On most ActionTec models, the power light will blink red or orange, then return to solid green when the reset completes. Release the reset button and wait 2-3 minutes for the ActionTec router to fully restart.
Some ActionTec models require you to hold the reset button for 30 seconds instead of 15. If the first attempt doesn't work, try holding the button longer. The router will return to factory default settings including the original IP address and login credentials printed on the device label.
Once your ActionTec router finishes resetting, you'll need to reconfigure your internet connection settings, Wi-Fi network name and password, and any other custom features you were using. Connect to the router using the default credentials from the label, then follow the setup wizard to restore your network settings.
